The Best Hand-Made Cover for Your Scriptures
Protecting this most prize possession is a must, don't you think? I use to hear this saying, "A Bible falling apart means your life is not." While this is true because it has wear and tear because you actually use it...I do not enjoy mine falling apart. Do you?
Unfortunately, by the time I think of getting a cover mine is falling apart...That is okay, I enjoy a well used scriptures book for a couple reasons:
- #1 It is easier to flip through pages and the "frequently read ones" are usually the first pages to be exposed when randomly open the book. It is fun to see different folk’s scriptures open in different spots based on what Yah is speaking to them.
- #2 Is re-reading my notes in the side margins, remembering why I highlighted this and that, seeing the connections I made over the years and adding new ones as time goes on. I do realize this is not for everyone but I for one am for it. It helps me learn and get the Word in me because I use visual aspect of writing, drawing a small pic, etc. to help me remember location, thought, promises and prayers.
- #3 When I picked up a well used book... You just know. Something about the way it feels that says, this scriptures has been read! Truly it has been re-read, prayed through, cried/wept over, praised over, laughed over and perhaps might even have a coffee/tea spill on a few pages. If you are like me a few might have a some tape portions for one reason or another.
So I now have a cover and wanted to share with you some pictures of it.
The front, has a pocket for a couple writing utensils or a small flip book to hold. Three buttons to lock the cover in place with the thread loops. They used a yarn with a blend of purple tones, as a I am an avid purple hue gal. Just something about that color that I am drawn too.
The back, as I shared in our memory verse post, has a pocket for 3" x 5" index cards, that I keep my memory verses on and then they are always with me, so I can take them out and recite them anytime.
Both pockets are just made a of a solid purple to contrast the beautiful blended color on the rest of the cover. This one specifically fits the Soft Cover Version of The Scriptures Version 2009, sold by the Institute for Scriptures. Click the link to view and for purchasing HERE
We are talking about adding this as option for folks to purchase but still praying about it. Let us know if this is something that might interest you. We might have some standard blend colors, male/female colors. We would not start with a customized option but maybe in the future that could be something to offer.
What do you think? Would you give one a try for the cover of your scriptures? 🤔
